Pharmavac PHA

Pharmavac PHA is an injectable emulsion designed specifically for pigeons.

Composition

Each vaccine dose (0.3 ml) contains:

Active Ingredients:

• Inactivated Pigeon Paramyxovirus type 1 (PPMV1), strain 988M: ≥ 6.9 log2 HI*
• Inactivated Pigeon Herpesvirus 1 (PHV1), strain V298/70: ≥ 38.1 EU**
• Inactivated Fowl Adenovirus type 8 (FAdV-8), strain M2/E: ≥ 24.7 EU**

*Haemagglutination inhibition units in chicken.
**ELISA units in chicken.

Indications

Pharmavac PHA is indicated for the active immunization of pigeons from 4 weeks of age to:

• Reduce mortality and decrease the frequency and severity of clinical signs associated with Paramyxovirus type 1 (PMV1).
• Mitigate the severity of clinical signs, gross lesions, and virus shedding caused by Pigeon Herpesvirus (PHV1).
• Alleviate the severity of clinical signs and gross lesions associated with adenovirus (AdV), specifically types 7/E, 2/D, 3/D, and 4/C from subgroup I.

Onset of Immunity: 3 weeks post-vaccination.
Duration of Immunity:

• 12 months for the PMV1 component.
• 5 months for the PHV1 and AdV components, supported by cell-mediated immunity and serological data.

Dosage and Administration

• Dosage: 0.3 ml
• Route: Administer one dose subcutaneously in the dorsal region of the neck, avoiding the head, starting at 4 weeks of age.
• Preparation: Shake well before use and occasionally during administration. Allow the vaccine to reach room temperature before use.
• Administer under standard aseptic conditions using sterile syringes and needles only. Use appropriately graduated syringes to ensure accurate dosing.

Vaccination Schedule

• Primary Vaccination: 1 dose starting from 4 weeks of age.
• Revaccination: Every 12 months for the PMV1 component, and every 5 months in breeding situations with PHV1 and AdV present.

Storage Conditions

Store in a refrigerator at 2 °C – 8 °C. Protect from frost and light

SALGEN SALMONELLA VACCINE

Paratyphoid / Salmonella Vaccine for Pigeons

Purpose:
• To prevent and control Salmonella (Paratyphoid), regarded as Enemy Number 1 in racing pigeons
• Protects against disease spread, secondary infections, joint symptoms, infertility, twisted necks, blindness, and high mortality

Vaccination Recommendations:
• All old birds vaccinated yearly
• Young birds also vaccinated
• Booster strongly recommended
• Helps establish loft herd immunity

Effectiveness:
• Diagnostic studies since 2016 show 80%+ excellent antibody levels
• Proven reduction in outbreaks and disease progression

Disease Notes:
Paratyphoid spreads rapidly in lofts, causing weight loss, green droppings, lameness, wing/leg swelling, and death.

Control Measures:
• Quarantine affected birds
• Disinfect or burn out lofts
• Veterinary treatment may include approved antimicrobials as advised
