Colombovac 50 Dose
A suspension for injection designed specifically for racing and show pigeons to protect against Paramyxovirus (Newcastle Disease).

Composition
- Inactivated Newcastle Disease Virus: Strain La Sota. Each 0.2 ml dose induces a GMT-HI titre of at least 27.0 in chicks.
- Adjuvant: 1 mg Carbomer 934 P.
- Preservative: 20 µg Thiomersal.
Uses
Provides active immunisation for pigeons, preventing mortality and clinical symptoms caused by Paramyxovirus Type 1 infection.
- Onset of protection: 1 month post-vaccination.
- Duration of immunity: 12 months.
Dosage and Administration
- Single dose: 0.2 ml per pigeon.
- Administration: Subcutaneous injection into the dorsal neck region. Shake the vial thoroughly before use.
Primary Vaccination
- Racing pigeons: Vaccinate all birds in the loft annually, at least 14 days before the racing season begins. Young birds can be vaccinated from 3 weeks of age. Immunity lasts for 1 year.
- Show pigeons: Vaccinate all birds annually, at least 14 days before the show season starts. Young birds can be vaccinated from 3 weeks of age.
Booster Vaccination
- Administer an annual booster dose for both racing and show pigeons.
- Timing may be adjusted to avoid interference with racing or show schedules.
Contraindications and Warnings
- For animal treatment only.
- Do not vaccinate:
- Sick pigeons.
- Birds within 2 weeks prior to mating.
- Birds in lay or within 4 weeks of the laying period.
- Safe for breeding birds if vaccinated before the breeding period.
Important Notes
- Avoid using other vaccines within 14 days before or after administering Colombovac.
- Do not mix with other vaccines or immunological products.
Adverse Reactions
- Less than 1% may experience mild, temporary swelling at the injection site.
- Overdoses can cause more pronounced local reactions.
- Report any unusual side effects to your veterinary surgeon.
Special Warnings
- Injection caution: Subcutaneous only. Intramuscular injection can cause severe reactions.
- Maternally Derived Antibody (MDA): May interfere with immunity development. Plan vaccination accordingly if parent birds have high antibody levels.

Hygiene and isolation:
- Prevent visitors with contact to unvaccinated pigeons from accessing the loft.
- Quarantine new birds for 14 days post-vaccination.
- Virus spread: Infected birds can shed the virus before symptoms appear. Maintain strict hygiene to avoid indirect transmission via clothing, equipment, or transport.
Accidental Self-Injection
Seek immediate medical attention. Provide the package leaflet to the physician.
Withdrawal Period
- Zero days.
Pharmaceutical Precautions
- Storage: Refrigerate at 2°C to 8°C. Do not freeze. Protect from light.
- Use the entire vial once opened.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Do not use after the expiry date.
