Coccidiosis in Pigeons Coccidiosis is a parasitic disease caused by protozoa of the genus Eimeria, particularly Eimeria columbarum in pigeons.The disease spreads through the ingestion of oocysts (eggs) found in contaminated feces, water, or feed. It is especially common in young birds and in lofts with poor hygiene, overcrowding, and damp or unsanitary conditions.

Clinical Signs:

  • Watery or greenish diarrhea ,Loss of appetite ,Weight loss or poor weight gain

  • Lethargy and ruffled feathers,In severe cases, dehydration and death

Treatment:
Common treatments include anticoccidial medications such as  toltrazuril. It's essential to follow veterinary guidance for correct dosage and duration.
